Kathleen R. Kerr, 67, of Tripoli, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at University Hospitals in Iowa City from injuries received in an auto accident that occurred earlier in the day near Tripoli.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at the Waverly Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with President John Winter officiating. Interment will be at Wasatch Memorial Lawns in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, November 1st. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 27th at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the LDS Branch in Waverly on Tuesday. Memorial donations may be given to the family for later designation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Kathleen, daughter of Hugh and Winnie Marjorie Harmer Reid, was born November 11, 1946, at Pocatello, Idaho. She grew up in Idaho and Utah, graduating from Jordan High School in Salt Lake City. She received her B.S. and M.A. degrees from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. On June 6, 1978, she was united in marriage with David Kerr in Provo, Utah. Kathy practiced as a speech pathologist for many years. She was employed by Grant Wood Area Education Association for several years and also worked at the Harmony House in Waterloo and area nursing homes. After suffering a stroke in 2002, she continued another four years with work as a speech pathologist until retiring. She then became a full time farm wife and helped her husband on the farm. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints-Waverly Branch, enjoyed quilting, and especially enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, David of Tripoli, she is survived by seven children, Karina Kerr of Draper, Utah, Rand (Holley) Kerr of Bountiful, Utah, Kole Kerr of Spring, Texas, Trent Kerr of Draper, Utah, Brytnie (Jeremy) Carolan of Austin, Minnesota, Kahri Anne Kerr of New York, New York, and Derek (Rachel) Kerr of Farmington, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Braden, McKade, and Megan Kerr, Dawson, Ian, Lexy, and Allie Carolan, and Eamon, Brennen, and Afton Kerr; one sister, Joan Jensen of Logan Utah; and three brothers, Ray (Janice) Reid of Salem, Oregon, Bruce (Karri) Reid of Salt Lake City, and Mike Reid.
Kathleen’s parents preceded her in death.
